Lg Electronics To Lead The World Of TV Technologies With Six World Firsts

LG Electronics, a major player in the global flat panel display market, announced the debut of six world’s first TV technologies at 2009 Consumer Electronics Show. LG aims to build its market share to become the second largest maker of flat panel TVs in 2009, supported by six world’s first LCD TV technologies - slim LED-backlight, wireless 1080p, TruMotion 240Hz, fastest response time, networking and energy saving – to complement its leadership in TV designs.

More Natural, Convenient and Eco-friendly LCD TV Technologies

LG unveiled at 2009 CES the world’s slimmest LED-backlit TV with local dimming technology. This leading-edge LED technology incorporated into the LG’s LH90 series (LH90 and LHX) enables an extremely slim design. In its LHX line, LG was able to keep the set incredibly slim, at 24.8mm, by using silicone lenses to amplify the light, while simultaneously increasing the backlight’s quality. In addition, LG’s premium LH90 series is the perfect combination of a sleek exterior with unmatched picture quality, a masterpiece of visual entertainment.

LG aims to build its market share to become the second largest maker of flat panel TVs in 2009, supported by six world’s first LCD TV technologies - slim LED-backlight, wireless 1080p, TruMotion 240Hz, fastest response time, networking and energy saving – to complement its leadership in TV designs.More Natural, Convenient and Eco-friendly LCD TV Technologies

In contrast to the industry average of 300 to 400 LEDs for a TV set, LG employs between 1,000 and 1,500 LEDs in its backlights, depending on screen size. This unique technology allows LG to divide the TV screen into 240 different sections that can be individually adjusted to create clearer and more natural images, even when bright light and deep shades appear on-screen together.

“There is nothing else like this on the market,” said Havis Kwon, Head of LCD TV Business of the LG Home Entertainment Company. “The LH90 series HDTVs are conceived as one-of-a-kind sets, beyond ordinary TV technology. Discerning consumers will instantly recognize the difference in watching our LH90 and LHX sets; no other television will look the same after experiencing them.”

What makes the LHX series even better is that there is no clutter of cables to distract the viewer, thanks to LG’s world first wireless 1080p Full HD TV technology. In LG’s premium LHX and LH85, the company’s wireless technology delivers completely uncompressed, 1080p “Full HD” picture quality. There is only a single power cord that plugs directly into the TV – all of the rest, from DVD players to game consoles and set-top boxes are attached to a separate unit that can be placed up to 30 feet away from the TV and still wirelessly transmit perfect picture quality.

“Consumers don’t need to sacrifice picture quality for more convenience,” said Mr. Kwon. “The LHX and LH85 play the latest Blu-ray discs and video games at the highest quality with LG’s outstanding wireless 1080p Full HD TV technology, because we want our consumers to be absolutely satisfied with every aspect of the TV viewing experience.”

Stylish design and utmost convenience are complemented by the world’s first 240Hz LED-scanning technology which creates crystal clear images with natural movement. LG’s TruMotion 240Hz technology eliminates motion blur using backlight control technology, instead of covering it by inserting interpolation data as other sets do. Combined with LG’s advanced Super IPS panels, this unique 240Hz technology helps LG achieve the world’s fastest response time on LCD TV at a mere 2 millisecond, which is how watching content on the LG LH90 series (LH90 and LHX) and LH55 make consumers feel as if the action were unfolding right inside their living room. Even better, the entire high-quality experience comes with lower power consumption and reduced heat and electromagnetic interference (EMI), thanks to LG’s TruMotion 240Hz technology.

Not only is LG delivering superb picture quality to its consumers, but its efforts also extend to providing them with the most diverse and open TV viewing experience. This is now made by possible via its world’s first collaboration with major web portal Yahoo!, the first partnership of its kind in the world. LG’s innovative broadband technologies offer the ultimate in TV entertainment. The included Yahoo! Widget service offers basic information, such as weather, finance, news and Flickr photos. LG also provides direct YouTube access and Netflix Instant Streaming service. With these features, high-speed internet users will be only a 30-second download away from a selection of more than 12,000 movies.

The ultimate entertainment experience LG presents comes with more energy savings with the world’s lowest power consumption. The LG LH30, equipped with an energy saving LCD screen, uses up to 80 percent less power than other LCD TVs. Its stand-by energy consumption is just about zero, meaning less nighttime or standby power leakage.

In addition, LG has incorporated eco-friendly features in all of its newest TVs, making it a core identity of LG’s sets. LG’s Intelligent Sensor II Technology in particular reduces power consumption by a maximum of 73 percent compared to older models of the same size, and helps produce a picture that minimizes eye strain and fatigue during extended viewing. Although LG TVs consume less energy, their fine picture quality and pleasant viewing experience are by no means compromised. The Intelligent Sensor II dims the backlight whenever possible to accommodate the surrounding environment, ultimately providing audiences with the finest picture quality at a lower cost.

Advanced Technologies, Beautifully Hidden

“We do not solely go after the top quality technologies,” said Mr. Kwon. “LG promotes advanced technologies beautifully hidden in its entire models, because we consider the best viewing experience to come with beautiful design and healthier viewing.”

LG’s 2009 line-up provides the perfect balance of aesthetics and high technology, providing the world with the optimal TV viewing experience. With its five world’s first technologies, beautifully hidden in all of its models, LG looks forward to growing throughout the year as a profitable and successful electronics manufacturer, and reaffirming once again its leadership in the industry.
