Sharp Introduces New Tiny-Screen LCD Televisions With Widescreen Capability
Sharp today introduces two new small, widescreen Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) televisions with space-saving designs and added convenience features designed for consumers looking to upgrade old CRT TVs or add a second set to the home. Available in 22-inch (21 1/2" diagonal) screen class size, model LC-22DV27U delivers a slim and versatile all-in-one-TV and video solution with the addition of a built-in DVD player. The 22-inch (21 1/2" diagonal) screen class size LC-22SB27U gives consumers another high-definition option with advanced features and a distinctively small footprint.

“These new small-screen models broaden Sharp’s offering of LCD televisions, giving consumers a perfect option for a CRT replacement or as a secondary TV for several rooms in the home, such as kitchens, bedrooms and offices,” said Bruce Tripido, associate vice president, marketing, Entertainment Products Division, Sharp. “The DV27U model saves space, allowing consumers to easily enjoy their favorite DVDs without the clutter of an additional unit.”
The widescreen LC-22SB27U employs a high-performance TFT LCD panel with Spectral Contrast Engine D (Dark), providing a high dynamic contrast ratio for deep blacks and vibrant colors in dark or bright scenes.
LC-22DV27U
The LC-22DV27U combines a high-performance TFT LCD panel with the convenience of a built-in DVD player. The side-mounted progressive scan DVD player loads the disc, displaying content in its true 16:9 aspect ratio with 1366 x 768 resolution for a clear and detailed image.
This model features a high contrast ratio for deep black tones and crisp images, and a fast pixel response time of 5ms. This unit also includes high brightness levels for vibrant pictures and true-to-life color clarity in any lighting conditions.
Cased in a slim black cabinet, the 22-inch LCD features a bottom-mounted speaker with surround sound and has built-in ATSC and QAM tuners to capture off-air and cable digital broadcasts. The LC-22DV27U includes an HDMI™ and an HD component input for simple, versatile set-up with high-definition compatibility. A PC input allows this small-screen LCD to function as a computer monitor.
LC-22SB27U
The widescreen LC-22SB27U employs a high-performance TFT LCD panel with Spectral Contrast Engine D (Dark), providing a high dynamic contrast ratio for deep blacks and vibrant colors in dark or bright scenes. The LC-22SB27U includes ATSC/NTSC tuners to receive off-air broadcasts as well as a QAM tuner for digital cable programming.*
A combination of design flexibility and added convenience features make this TV a solid choice for a variety of rooms. With its slim-line space-saving design, the LC-22SB27U can be placed almost anywhere in the room and can also be wall mounted with a wide range of brackets.
To help reduce energy costs, this model meets the new ENERGY STAR® 3.0 standards. It comes equipped with an HDMI™ input for convenient connection to HD-capable devices, as well as a PC input, allowing the 22-inch LCD to serve as a monitor for greater versatility.

- LC-22DV27U will be available in March for a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $449.99.
